Fine Arts Night Poster Design

My Fine Arts Night poster is not my best work, however I put a great deal of thought into it. I was instructed to use the fine arts (theater, choir, band, dance, art) to make a poster advertising the Shades Valley High School Fine Arts Night.

This project began in Adobe Photoshop with an aim towards a winter wonderland. First, I inserted a snowman drum set and distorted the image by adding an effect layer. Next, the musical notes were added and warped. I then added a blue color in the background with a brush tool to see a snow filled sky. The theater masks and dancing Christmas characters were then added on to with color from Photoshop. Finally, I inserted the text as a layer above the background and previous layers. I did not spend much time on this project in order to reach a deadline. Although, if given more time I believe I would be much more confident in this piece of work.

Last year in art, my teacher assigned me a life line project. This meant I had to draw or incorporate the lines from my palms into a sketch. When I began to draw I had no idea what it would turn out to be. As you can see, I settled on creating a scary fish. My life lines are morphed along with the fish's eye. I honestly loved this project because I started with no ideas, and ended with a non mimicked object that is completely original by me.
This collage is am assortment of magazine clippings that I used to design a 6x6 square. I themed this square to go along with the phrase "basket case". The only thing these clippings have in common is that they are objects of random. I included a T-Rex, mushroom, flower, mouse, German Easter eggs, Peeps marshmallows, and two different backgrounds. I enjoyed working on this project tremendously because it was based fully on my own creativity.

I drew this seahorse last year for my art 1 class as a major project. The teacher instructed us to use watercolors, colored pencils, and zen-tangling. My frustrations with this seahorse was the large amount of detail I needed to use. I spent many hours trying to achieve perfection and even though the picture is not perfect, it was placed in an art show and set on display for the school to see for several months.

My machine skull took much time and imagination to create. The entire drawing is a pencil sketch with minimal shading. I intented to potray in my drawing how the human mind works extremely hard. In this case, the human has been worked to death.

Differences that I found between photoshop and illustrator were that photoshop is a painting program, while illustrator is a drawing program. Vector images are composed if paths that are used in illustrator. However, Rastor images are made of pixels amd are used in Photoshop.

I drew my Batman in Art 1 last year as my first sketch assignment. As soon as I turned it in Mrs. Ritchey was determined to get me into the Jefferson County School of Fine Arts. I had taken a long break from drawing before I did this sketch. I am proud of myself for moving forward and expanding my knowledge on the basics and graphics.
